BOUNTIFUL BASKETS!!

5 Tomatoes
12 BrusselSprouts
10 MORE BrusselSprouts (for helping)
1 Watermelon
6 Mangoes
7 Ears of Corn
8 Bananas
12 Apples
3 Butternut Squash
1 Head of Romaine Lettuce
9 Limes
12 Peaches
1 Bag of Baby Carrots
ALL FOR $15 ($16.50 includes the handling fee)
(I actually split all of this with my friend Julie & only paid $8.25)

I know this is a really random post, but I am pretty excited about it. Plus, I wanted to explain how it works. So if you already know about this then I am sorry, it's old news... BUT... if you don't you have to check this out.
Well I kept hearing about this Bountiful Basket thing. I checked out their website & didn't quite understand it. (I guess the website is under remodeling so it's not that user friendly). Anyway, for those of you that love veggies & fruit this is a sweet deal!!
This is how it works:
On Monday's you go to their website & make sure they have a location near you. (For those of you in Cedar/Enoch.. they have like 6 locations. Those in Delta they also have 1 location. They also have a ton of locations up north & several other states. Sorry Aud, only 1 in Texas & I don't think it's by you:(. ) You have to remember that they only have a certain amount for each location. So you want to sign up first or you may be too late.
Anyway after you find a pickup location you select how many baskets you want. You pay $15 each (plus $1.50 for a handling fee) for a total of $16.50.
So the question is what is in the basket & do you get to choose. Well you don't actually get to pick what fruits & veggies you want. That's the fun part! Everyone that purchases a basket gets the exact same thing & you don't know what it is until you pick it up. (P.S. pickup day is usually on a Saturday) You for sure know that you get 50% fruits & 50% veggies. You also don't get an "actual" basket. When you get there everything is seperated into baskets and then you transfer it into whatever you take there to take it home with, baskets, sacks or whatever.
On the website you can also choose from breads, tortillas & some produce for a mexican meal. Not sure exactly how they are but heard the bread is awesome. You buy 5 loaves for $10.

So I signed up last Monday with a friend (wasn't sure how much to expect & wanted to share it). I just went on the internet & paid. Then I waited until Saturday (they only do it once a week) to go to the local Elementary to pick it up. (That was the pickup location I chose from on the website). I couldn't believe how many people came to pick up their baskets. There were at least 50 people and this was only 1 of the many locations they have here locally. All I know about the actual company or how it works is: there are two women that get this produce from some farmers in Arizona at a really good cost & they decided to share it with others. All of the work is done by volunteers.
When I arrived on Saturday I thought I had to be there at 7. Well I woke up at 7:30 and raced out the door. Only to find out that it was actually 8. Don't worry though the volunteers were already there separating the produce. Before I knew it I became one of those volunteers so they could get done faster. I will stop rambling, but anyways I hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have questions. Not only is it healthy & good for ya at a good price. But I like how it is a surprise & you get to try new things & recipes. Before I don't know if I would necessarily buy some of these items on my own at the store. But now, for example: the Mangoes we got were so delicious! I have never bought or tried one before & now they're a favorite!!
We have decided to do this every other week & it should keep us well stocked!
P.S. I also heard (but haven't checked yet) that if you search bountiful baskets on facebook they keep some really good recipes that include the food you get each week??

Golfin with daddy!!

We finally got to stay home this weekend & get some stuff done around the house & yard. It was also too pretty of a day to pass up the golf course. Chase took us to the driving range so he can practice with his new clubs. Chase is determined that Chloe is going to be a golfer & has already asked when we can buy her her own set??
I am pretty excited too because Chase has asked me to play in the couples tournament with him this weekend!! I haven't golfed yet this year... actually I haven't golfed since.... I think it was the tournament I did with my mom last July?? Oh boy this could be interesting!! I sure hope Chase has lots of patience this weekend. More than anything I am just excited to spend some time with him. We haven't left Chloe yet so it will be good for us to get out.
Wish me Good Luck!!

Mother's Day!!

I know this post is a little late but I just want to tell my mom & mother-in-law how much I love them. You don't realize how much goes on with being a mother until you are one. So this year I have really come to appreciate all the hard work they do. Chloe is so lucky to have two very special grandma's & 2 great grandma's that love her so much. I only hope to take their great qualities & apply them to what I do as a mother. Thanks again for everything Mom, Chris, Grandma Bailey & Grandma Barbara!!!

Chloe & Sienna

I just had to post this super cute picture of Chloe & Sienna that was taken this last weekend in Delta. Sienna loves all of her cousins & really wanted to have tummy time with Chloe.... so she did. It will be so fun when Chloe gets bigger to be able to "really play" with Sienna. For right now tummy time will have to do.

Like most people I am writing this post for myself just in case these memories don't make it into the scrapbook that I am trying to get caught up with... but you're welcome to read!

I finally realized that I have been in denial of how big Chloe has been getting. I have all of her clothes organized, each drawer is for a certain size. I only ever go to the newborn drawer that has some 0-3 clothes in it. The other day with the "wonderful cold weather" I had to go to that drawer for some pants because "I just knew" that the 3 month drawer would be way too big. After putting on her pants that were now floods (is that how you spell it?) I called Chase & said that we have some serious shopping to do this weekend. He asked about her other clothes in the other drawers & I just laughed & said, "Oh no they're way too big, we need to go shopping." I guess I figured we would just find a size in between newborn & 3 month?? I don't know what I was thinking??
After I got off the phone I figured I would humor myself & check out the 3 month drawer..... only to find out that I have been in denial this WHOLE time. As I held all these clothes up to Chloe I realized that my baby is growing and wanted to cry. I immediately washed all of these clothes & am now hoping that she can get some use out of all of them now that they have shrunk a bit?!? At this point I continued to humor myself & held up her newborn clothes she wore home from the hospital & that made me even more sad :(. But at the same time I just love seeing her progress & grow. There is nothing like having a baby girl that can't help but smile while she cries at the same time. So I am no longer in denial just in a hurry to get all of these clothes on her before she out grows them too.
Just another update... Chloe is 3 1/2 months old & finally made it to 10.1 pounds!! Yay for Chloe, she is eating so good & is such a good napper. For the most part she'll sleep through the night & wakes for a feeding around 4 or 5. She takes 2 good naps throughout the day. She loves to be cuddled. She is really starting to notice her surroundings. She is starting to grab for things & loves to grip it super tight when she can. She is still singing like always. She loves to tickle my neck while I am feeding her.. it's super sweet. She is loving story time that we have every morning before she goes for her first nap. She also loves to be sang to even if her mother has a terrible voice. She also just realized that she DOES like being wrapped up like a burrito for nap time. She used to always have her hands by her face, but not anymore. She loves bath time especially when dad is home in time to do it. She is very patient with mom & always having to have some type of head band on (which dad hates & I think all men do:)) She like most babies loves all of the bright lights in her surrounding (TV, computer, phone, lights, etc). She can role to her side very easily but gets timid about going all the way on her tummy. She loves tummy time & it shows with how strong her neck is. She loves to stand whenever you hold her, her leg muscles are pretty strong too. She still is working on the giggling... nothing too distinct but I can't wait until she does!!!

Thanks for letting me ramble on about Chloe & all of these memories... I just needed to get them down somewhere.

Thumb Sucker???

Well Chloe has found her thumb & continues to go back to it each day. I am not certain but I think we could have a thumb sucker... isn't it so cute??

Family Get-Away
to Mesquite

Chase & I have decided that we will have a family tradition of taking a vacation after Tax Season. This year we didn't make it too far but it's the time together that means the most. Thanks to Mike & Chris for letting us use their home in Mesquite. It was so enjoyful to just relax with Chase & spend time together.

IRONMAN 2010

Just wanted to write a little post on my amazing brother.
For those of you that don't know Jeremy he is a very motivational, out-going, loving, funny & caring guy/brother.
He is the one that always brings smiles & laughter to the room.
Well this weekend he accomplished one of his goals & we were so happy to witness it as a family!!

We missed Jeremy leaving for his 2 1/2 mile swim.
But...
We saw him get back from his 112 mile bike ride.

This is Jeremy getting back from his bike & leaving for his run
(aka 26.2 miles/ marathon)

This was the moment we all waited for.... crossing the finish line!!!
WAY TO GO JER!!

The Smith family cheering Jer on inbetween the bike & the run!!

Not only did Jeremy's amazing wife have a baby 2 days before, but she got all of these great shirts for us to wear so Jeremy would notice us when he ran by. That's right Chloe even got a onezie... she did so awesome throughout the day. This was about 11:30 she was pretty tired.
